Patrick Mahomes is arguably the best QB in the NFL currently. However, the QB that he’s going up against can be considered a close second. The Chiefs will meet the Bengals for the AFC championship game and Mahomes will go up against Joe Burrow who’s been exceptional this season.
Mahomes even made it to Pro Bowl this season and has been the sole catalyst on the Chiefs’ side. Therefore, when he suffered a high-ankle injury during the Jaguars game, there were lots of doubts over his availability for the Bengals game.
However, The Chiefs QB denied all the false claims and believes he’s ready to go for the eventual matchup between two young QBs expected to dominate the game for many years to come.
“It’s doing good,” Pat Mahomes stated to the media. “I’ve done a few days of treatment, a few days of rehab. Excited to get on the practice field and kind of test it out and see where I’m at. But it’s feeling good so far.”
The 27-year-old QB suffered an injury during the Jaguars game and was rushed to the locker room. However, he came back in the second half to help his team get a win.
Although the Chiefs’ QB was back in the second half, his game considerably changed. Mahomes is known to play from outside the pocket. However, after his injury, he stayed in the pocket and didn’t do the things he’s known for.
This can turn out to be a good thing for the Chiefs as they won’t be able to assume the game that Mahomes is going to play when they eventually meet this week.
Patrick Mahomes will be looking for revenge against the Bengals

The Chiefs and Bengals met last season for the AFC championship game. However, at that time Joe Burrow got the better of Patrick Mahomes. This time, the Super Bowl-winning QB will look to dominate the game and exact revenge on the Bengals for a disappointing loss last season.
The Mahomes-Burrow rivalry is gaining lots of steam and will be the duo to look out for in future years as they both continuously break records and help their team get to new heights.
However, Mahomes will be going into the game with a clear disadvantage of his high-ankle injury that he will need to work around to get the best out of himself.
“I’ll have to find ways to be able to push off and be able to still make the throws the right way,” Patrick Mahomes said. “I’ll push it a little bit today and then the next day and then the next day again and see what I can do then. Not reaggravate the injury, obviously, but push it to see what I’ll be able to do on Sunday.”
