Aaron Rodgers‘ trade to the New York Jets is currently the talk of the entire NFL world. The veteran QB was speculated to join the Jets for a long time now and the trade has finally been completed.
The Green Bay Packers were given 3 draft picks for Rodgers and an additional conditional pick. This makes it one of the most expensive trades ever.
Regardless, the Jets fans and staff and ecstatic except for one person, Zach Wilson. The Jets rookie was drafted 2nd overall to be the starter in New York. However, he failed to perform on the big stage and has been sidelined to the bench.
Amidst all this, Wilson’s mother’s reaction to the trade will have made his life even more difficult. Apparently, Lisa Wilson was extremely happy with Rodgers signing for the Jets and even displayed her happiness on her Instagram stories.
Lisa uploaded two Instagram stories following the completion of Aaron Rodgers’ trade to the Jets. The first story included a picture of the veteran QB and Wilson joking with each other during a joint Jets-Packers practice in the 2022 preseason. The second story was Adam Schefter’s post, that confirmed the Rodgers trade. Lisa also added three clapping emojis to the post.
Zach Wilson has been demoted to the backup role following Rodgers’ arrival in New York. The silver lining in this situation is that he now has the great opportunity to learn under one of the greatest NFL QBs of all time.
The Jets have a plan for Zach Wilson after signing Aaron Rodgers
Aaron Rodgers‘ trade to the Jets doesn’t mean it’s all over for Zach Wilson. Wilson is still just 23 years old and has lots of growth potential. The Jets want the veteran QB to mentor the young QB and make him a star for the future.
Wilson has also been a fan of Rodgers since his childhood and spoke greatly about him last year when the two teams met.
“As long as I can remember playing football, I was a big fan,’’ Wilson said of Aaron Rodgers in October before the Jets beat the Packers. “We didn’t have an NFL team in Utah, so I wouldn’t say I was a Packers fan, but I was just an Aaron Rodgers fan. I grew up watching him. He was the quarterback I tried to replicate and steal things from. I like the way he plays the game.’’
It is speculated that instead of looking for a trade, Zach Wilson will instead stay in New York and learn the trade from one of the best to ever set foot on the turf.
