DeAndre Rashaun Hopkins is a name to reckon with in American football. The wide receiver who features for the Arizona Cardinals of the NFL was first drafted by the Houston Texans in the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft and since then, he hasn’t looked back.

Named to five All-Pro teams, Hopkins has achieved a lot in his illustrious career. However, his path to the top was a difficult one but his mother always stood by him and guided the talented player to the ultimate glory. Sabrina Greenlee, DeAndre’s mother has had a very tough life but her courage and determination have allowed her to fight through all the pain and atrocities.

Sabrina Greenlee had an extremely tough childhood to start with. Born to an alcoholic father, and a drug addict mother. She was a victim of abusive relationships for a very long time. In an Interview, Sabrina had claimed, “By the time I was 17, I had been put into the hospital three times.”

I remember trying to take my senior pics at 18, and it did not happen because I had two black eyes and broken collarbone that day,” she further added. Sabrina had relationships but it never really worked out. In the end, a single mother was left with four children to take care of.

The gutsy lady worked two jobs in a day to support her family. However, the physical abuse hadn’t parted ways with her. She was poured a mixture of bleach and lye on her face by her ex-boyfriend’s other girlfriend which severely damaged her face and eyes.

Although she gained some vision over time, she gradually lost her sight completely. However, the brave woman kept supporting her children, and finally, her son achieved what she always wanted him to. As everything worked out, Sabrina went on to establish S.M.O.O.O.T.H In an attempt to help the victims of domestic abuse and acid attacks.

Undoubtedly, Sabrina’s journey has been a very tough one, but the way she fought all the hardships and even aided women who were subjected to similar abuse, it would be fair to say that she is indeed a fighter and a role model for millions across the world.
