The Cleveland Browns had a rather forgettable 2021 season. With 8 wins and 9 defeats, they finished third on the AFC North points table and failed to make their way to the playoffs. One man who particularly had a disastrous season for the Browns was Baker Mayfield.

As per reports, the Browns met with QB Deshaun Watson as they had had enough of Mayfield promising to do better every season. Cleveland is trying to give a little competition to Mayfield for the QB starting position. On the day Cleveland met with the Texans QB, Baker Mayfield posted a cryptic message on his social media handles thanking all his fans.

The past 4 years have been nothing short of truly life-changing since I heard my name called in the draft to go to Cleveland. This is not a message with hidden meaning. This is strictly to thank the city of Cleveland for embracing my family and me,” the No.1 pick wrote.

Former NFL safety turned analyst Ryan Clark reprimanded the Browns QB for his unwanted thank you note and asked him to behave like a grown-up on Get Up ESPN. “This is not the way to communicate to your team to let them know what you want. If you want to be seen as an adult, if you want to be seen as a leader, you have to conduct yourself in certain ways. And sending out messages that you don’t want to be messages that aren’t saying anything but that are saying everything, that ain’t the way. That does not allow you to walk into a locker room of grown men who are fathers and husbands and lead them and Baker Mayfield hasn’t done that. And that’s what they mean by they want an adult,” Clark said showing his contempt for Mayfield’s poor action.

Baker Mayfield has always handled criticism in the wrong way and it shows how not great of a leader he is. While the No.1 draft pick showed great promise of being a franchise QB, his continuously declining performance says otherwise. There is a high chance that Watson lands in Cleveland.

While Mayfield has had an occasional burst of exceptional performances, there is no doubt he will improve wherever he plays if the Browns sign Deshaun Watson and move on from Mayfield.
