“He is the most influential coaching figure,” Todd Bowles praises Bruce Arians after taking over HC role at the Buccaneers

Todd Bowles has taken over as the new head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after Bruce Arians stepped down from the role.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are undergoing a change in the leadership role at the club, after veteran head coach Bruce Arians decided to call it a day on his coaching tenure. He gave up his duties for his deputy Todd Bowles, who will succeed him to the role of the head coach for the upcoming season.

The announcement came as a shock to many, as people never expected Arians to give up his role in this manner, especially after his star quarterback, Tom Brady decided to unretire from the league a couple of weeks ago. However, Todd Bowles should be more than a good replacement and the new coach reserved plenty of praise for Bruce Arians.

“He is the most influential coaching figure and father figure that I have ever had in this league,” Bowles said of his 70-year old predecessor according to Rob Maaddi of AP Pro Football.

Bowless continued, “I understand a lot of things I’ve learned from my coaching experience, especially from him so I’m going to take that approach. The one thing I know is I know I can coach football players regardless if you’re an All-Pro or a rookie. All of your players want to be coached and help them get better. I can help people get better and I’m going to use my approach.”

Bowles said that despite being happy at the prospect of coaching an NFL side, he was also sad that he took over from Arians, for whom he has high regard. The duo have a relationship which dates way back to about 40 years when Bowles played under Bruce Arians at Temple.
