At the start of this offseason, Davante Adams refused to play on a franchise tag with the Green Bay Packers and moved on to reunite with his Fresno State QB Derek Carr in Las Vegas. He was the highest-paid WR in the league at that point. Seeing Adams make big bucks, Chiefs star receiver Tyreek Hill or otherwise known as “The Cheetah” made a similar request to Kansas City to hiking his salary.
Sadly, the Cheifs didn’t agree to Hill’s demands and the wideout was promptly picked up by the Miami Dolphins in a four-year, $120 million deal making him the highest-paid WR in the NFL.
Tyreek Hill feels his new QB is far better than Patrick Mahomes
The Dolphins were in dire need of an offensive weapon to drag them out of the limbo that they’re currently in. Despite selecting QB Tua Tagovailoa fifth overall in the 2020 draft, the team hasn’t had a winning season in the past two seasons. Tyreek Hill appeared on the It Needed To Be Said podcast with agent Drew Rosenhaus where the two spoke about what it’s like playing for someone like Patrick Mahomes, who is a generational talent, and Tua Tagovailoa who is yet to prove himself.
“I’ve had a chance to see Tua (Tagovailoa) throw the ball, to myself, but… he’s that dude bro, Like, what a lot of people don’t know, like, I’m not just sitting just saying this because he’s my quarterback now…like, I’m not trying to get more targets right now,” Tyreek said. “What I’m trying to say is Tua is that deal, bro, he has a heck of an arm, he’s accurate, he can throw the deep ball, and he actually goes through his reads, where people are like on Twitter like saying, ‘Oh, he doesn’t go through his reads.’ Man, this dude is that dude.”
When asked whom would he rather have him throw the ball, Patrick or Tua, Hill’s response shocked everyone. “I’m gonna go with 15 as the strongest arm but as far as accuracy-wise, I’m going with Tua all day, I want (the pass) to hit me right in the breadbasket, just like I did in the Buffalo Bills game and take it 70, and the rest is history,” Tyreek said. Everyone in the league knows Mahomes has the best arm and has repeatedly shown he can throw accurate passes even under pressure. While Tua hasn’t done anything that would make anyone compare him with Patrick Mahomes.
