Serbian World No.1, Novak Djokovic has records flowing into his career as he cliched his 37th Masters 1000 title by winning the Paris event and claimed the year-end World No.1 ranking for a record-breaking seventh time in his career, surpassing the legend – Pete Sampras who has done it six times.

Greek World No.3, Stefanos Tsitsipas recently appeared in an interview with ‘Sports Bild‘ where he made some resounding statements that make the tennis universe think about. The Greek was asked questions like – The future of the Big 3, how big is Novak Djokovic.

The World No.3 believes that Novak Djokovic is the best tennis player in the world currently after the Serb won a record-extending sixth Paris Masters title by avenging his US Open final defeat against World No.2, Daniil Medvedev with a 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 victory in Sunday’s final match. In addition to that, Djokovic even clinched the year-end No.1 ranking for a record-shattering 7th time surpassing his childhood hero – Pete Sampras. All this happened over the span of two days.

Tsitsipas faced the Serbian maestro in the Roland Garros final was 2-0 up, however, Djokovic showed his class with an extraordinary comeback to win the title in five sets.

There is currently only one big player: Novak Djokovic. He’s still the best in the world. But Daniil Medvedev, Alexander Zverev and I get right behind it. We can become the next big three. I firmly believe in it,” said Tsitsipas when asked that in the era of the big three, Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic, who will the next big three be?

Roger Federer made his return in March 2021 after a long break due to a knee injury. He participated in two grand slams in 2021, French Open and Wimbledon. Federer was not at his best but the only thing fans expect is to watch him play. Now the 20 Grand Slam champion went through another surgery and will make a comeback next year.

When Tsitsipas was asked how long will Djokovic play, he said, “Nobody knows. I still have a lot of confidence in him. Who would have thought that Roger Federer would still play at 40? Not me. But I am sure that he will make another comeback.”

Tsitsipas, who is preparing for the last stretch of the season, will be seen competing at the much-awaited year-end ATP Finals in Turin starting on November 14 and will look to repeat what he did in 2019.
