“No space for everyone,” says Andrey Rublev on his competition, responds to Roger Federer’s prediction

Russian Andrey Rublev is currently enjoying a breakthrough season. Having a tour-record five titles this season, he will be making his debut at the Nitto ATP Finals this year.
An interesting thing to note was that in the beginning of the season, Roger Federer had actually predicted Rublev’s exceptional season!
“Rublev is going to do something special,” said Roger Federer

World no. 8 Rublev has an impressive haul of five titles in 2020, one more than Serb great and world no. 1 Novak Djokovic. He has an impressive 19 wins out of his last 20 matches in ATP 500 events. In the Paris Masters, he breezed past lucky loser Radu Albot in straight sets to set up a meeting with Swiss veteran Stan Wawrinka.
Earlier in the tennis season, Roger Federer was asked about who he thinks will be having a special season in 2020. He replied, “I say that Rublev is going to do something special.”
Rublev feels flattered by Roger’s faith

Speaking to some lucky fans and answering their questions, Rublev replied to a fan query regarding Roger’s prediction. He said, “Well, of course, it’s amazing when such a legend says something in this way.”
“But as I was saying at the beginning of the season, it’s not only about me, because all the young guys are so good, all the players are working hard, all of them are having amazing seasons, having an amazing level to be on the top and then there is no space for everyone,” he continued modestly.
In appreciation for Roger’s faith in him, he concluded, “I am going to try my best but the rest are also doing their best so we will see then how it’s going to be.”
