Not the right time to resume Tennis: Nick Kyrgios

From the starting, let it be Adria tour or resumption of tennis, Nick Kyrgios has been very vocal about the ongoing situation of pandemic and how cases have been rapidly rising.

Nick, on Twitter has even called out various players and organisations and asked not to conduct any tournament during the crisis. Not only that, he has heavily criticised world No.1, Novak Djokovic for organising Adria tour and risking many lives.

Being a crazy basketball fan, especially a Celtic fan, Nick follows the NBA passionately. In a video chat with Basketball Forever, world No.40 talked about resuming of NBA season and it’s various players.

He said, “I liked the arrangement the NBA is making to make it safer when the season resumes and players travel around the US.”

Expressing all his emotions for basketball and NBA, he has been quite impressed with what NBA is doing regarding their safety measures. However, his idea for tennis was completely different and said , ” I’m not sure if a global sport like tennis is at the right time to play.”

Nick Kyrgios then said, “From a tennis standpoint, it is just too hard. We have so many international players coming from all around the world. It’s just too risky, you can’t guarantee us that no one will get sick.”

“With the new cases in the United States, it’s pretty hectic. They are forcing a bit too much,” he added.

Nick Kyrgios is firmly against US Open, and even went on ATP as well as USTA ‘selfish’ reminding the virus is not a joke and should be taken seriously.

“This is not a joke. I feel like the tennis world is not taking it seriously. People say that I’m attacking other players on Twitter, but I just think that people are not taking it seriously.”

“I’m not sure if a global sport like tennis is at the right time to play,” Nick concluded.
