Novak Djokovic’s US Open run ended in a default in the 4th round.

Novak Djokovic has a great 2020 season so far, losing just two matches during the entire year. The Serbian also added a 8th Australian Open title to his tally at the start of the year and was simply unbeatable. The Serbian won ATP titles in 2020, but however he admitted he felt a bit of regret not winning either of the French Open or the US Open.

The unfortunate incident at the US Open costed Djokovic his 18th Grandslam title which ended in a default. He came closer at the French Open but was defeated in the final by Rafael Nadal. “There is a little regret because I have not a trophy in NY or Paris since I have been in an extraordinary form for both. The season is what it is, with the break and everything, but I’ve won a lot of matches, so I can compare it with 2011 and 2015,” said Djokovic.

Novak Djokovic to have a busy 2021 season

Djokovic is all set to have a busy 2021 season

Novak Djokovic enters the 2021 season with two main goals on his list. As stated earlier, the main aim of the Serbian is to acquire the historic World number 1 ranking. The Serbian is currently in his 291st week at the top and is just behind Federer’s record of 310 weeks. The Serbian will play the Erste Bank Open in Vienna next week, where he can claim 500 points.

If all goes well, Djokovic can end up breaking Federer’s record as early as 8th March, 2021. The next item on his list would be winning more Grandslams than Nadal and Federer. The Serbian currently has 17 majors, three less than his rivals who are equal at 20 each. Novak Djokovic would be looking forward to start his 2021 season with the Australian Open trophy, his 9th which will take his total tally to 18.
