Tennis returned to Serbia this year, as an ATP 250 event on clay courts, was played at the Novak Tennis Center in Belgrade this week. Novak Djokovic was defeated in the semifinals by Aslan Karatsev, who has been one of the standout players this season. The Russian will now face Matteo Berrettini in the finals of the Serbia Open 2021.

Novak Djokovic gave a small tour of the player’s locker room at the Serbia Open. The world number one showed a few things lying around, and the video also included, Filip Krajinovic sitting in his assigned area. The tournament director is Djordje Djokovic, who is the younger brother of the world number one.

Djordje Djokovic reveals inspiration behind the locker room

Djordje Djokovic revealed that the main inspiration behind the player’s locker room was the Hollywood film, Moneyball. Djordje stated that a few weeks ago, he saw the sports-based film, Moneyball in which baseball players enjoyed a huge locker room. Hence, the Serbian wanted to provide the similar kind of facility to the tennis players at the Novak Tennis Center.

Novak Djokovic is enduring a tough start to his clay court season, after he was knocked out in the semifinals of the Serbia Open 2021. The world number one lost to the runner-up, Aslan Karatsev in an epic three hour battle. Djokovic was also defeated in the third round of the Monte Carlo Masters last week, after he lost to Dan Evans. He will hope to reclaim his form as he will next compete at the Madrid Masters, next month.
