Novak Djokovic has given a fantastic tribute to three-time Grand Slam champion Andy Murray ahead of Wimbledon. Both players made last-minute decisions to enter the Wimbledon main draw, which took place on Friday.
Djokovic is recovering from a meniscus tear, whereas Murray is recovering from a spinal injury. Speaking to Sky Sports, the Serbian praised the British legend for his successful career and wished him the best for the future.
I heard he underwent a surgery a week ago or less than a week ago. That was worrying, but the fact that he can hit the ball is a great sign, and he definitely deserves a great farewell from his favorite tournament, a tournament he won twice. And, you know, he won the Olympic Games here. He's definitely a legend of our sport.Novak Djokovic said in an interview with Sky Sports
Djokovic and Murray have met twice at Wimbledon, with the three-time Grand Slam champion victorious on both occasions. Their first meeting was at the London 2012 Olympics silver medal match, which Murray won 7-5, 7-5 to secure his spot in the gold medal match against Roger Federer.

Their second meeting was in the 2013 Wimbledon final, where Murray ended a 77-year drought of a British Wimbledon champion by defeating the Serb 6-4, 7-5, 6-4. It was his second Grand Slam final victory over Djokovic, after beating him earlier in the 2012 US Open final.
Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic cleared for Wimbledon
Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic, both former champions, dismissed ongoing injury worries to confirm their participation in the Wimbledon draw. Murray, who won in 2013 and 2016, seemed set to miss his final Wimbledon due to a recent back surgery. Djokovic, a seven-time champion, also faced concerns after knee surgery following an injury at the French Open.
Despite their setbacks, both 37-year-old rivals secured spots in the draw for the third Grand Slam of the year, starting next Monday. Murray ranked 115th globally, will confront Tomas Machac of the Czech Republic, who defeated him twice this year. Djokovic, seeded second, will face Vit Kopriva, ranked 123rd and making his Wimbledon debut.
Murray’s surgery was due to a spinal cyst, casting doubt on his ability to compete in singles. The Scottish player, known for his resilient spirit despite a metal hip, opted for surgery after struggling with leg weakness and coordination issues at Queen’s Club Championships, leading to his withdrawal from the tournament.
