Novak Djokovic’s youngest brother, Djordje Djokovic is appointed as the tournament director of the Serbia Open 2021. The announcement was made after it was announced that the Serbia Open would replace the Hungarian Open. The ATP Website confirmed the changes and also mentioned the dates when the tournament will be held.

Serbia Open will be held Belgrade from 19-25 April. Djordje’s appointment as tournament director comes as a surprise as he was the tournament director of the infamous ‘Adria Tour‘ which ended up with several positive covid-tests and controversies. Djordje’s inexperience managing the event came through, as he failed to establish safety protocols at the event.

Serbia Open 2021 will be held at the Novak Djokovic Tennis Centre. The Serb’s family who had organized previous editions of the Serbia Open, have regained control over the event after a lease agreement with Ion Tiriac.

Tumaini Carayol, recognized sports journalist confirmed the news of Novak Djokovic’s tennis center staging the event.

The Serbian’s tennis center is one of the most recognized tennis training institutions in Eastern Europe with it’s state-of-the-art facilities. During the pre-season, several players came to the center to train before flying out to Australia. The institution has 11 clay courts, which are said to be in a similar league compared to those at Rome and Monte Carlo Masters. It was recently reported that the Novak Djokovic’s academy would be headed by fellow Serbian, Viktor Troicki and provide Djordje Djokovic with the much needed guidance.
