OFFICIAL: Leicester City announce the signing of Zambian striker Patson Daka from RB Salzburg

Premier League club Leicester City have confirmed the signing of prodigious striker Patson Daka on a five-year-deal which will be in effect from 1 July after Premier League and international clearance is issued.

Daka will be lining up with his new team-mates from July, when he will joining the Leicester camp as they begin their preparations for the upcoming Premier League season.

Daka will be joining Leicester City from Austrian giants RB Salzburg, where he had a major contribution in the sides’ run to four successive Austrian Bundesliga titles, lifting a total of seven trophies in his four seasons with the club.

Daka has been the major target man for RB Salzburg, scoring 68 times in his 125 appearances with the club in all competitions over the years. Daka found the net 27 times in only 28 appearances with Salzburg in the league last season, which saw him finish as the Austrian Bundesliga’s top scorer, also adding the Player of the Season award to his bag.

Daka’s caught the attention of top clubs last season with 34 goals in all competitions, helping RB Salzburg complete their third league title and cup double since he came up for the club.

Daka has featured for his country Zambia 22 times at international level, scoring seven goals and was also named the Young Player of the Year of the African Football Confederation back in 2017.

“I’m so, so excited to join this great, historic Club. It has been my dream and I’m so happy and looking forward to what’s coming next.” Daka said in his interview to LCFC TV.

“I have followed Leicester from the time they won the league. I feel it is the perfect place for me, because it’s a team that fights for titles. I know it’s not going to be easy, but I feel ready to face this new challenge.

“I will give my best for the Club each and every day, and I look forward to seeing the Leicester City fans inside the stadium soon.” Daka exclaimed, clearly quite ecstatic to join his new club.
