Tokyo Olympics: Aaron Wolf from Japan claims the -100 Kg throne in Judo, adds eight Gold Medal for Japan in Judo at Tokyo Olympics

The dominating run of Japan in Judo at the Tokyo Olympics continued on the sixth day as Aaron Wolf claimed Gold Medal in the -100 Kg category of Men’s Judo. This is Japan’s eighth Gold Medal in Judo in just six days and looks like it will get better in the remaining two days.

Wolf started his Olympic campaign by defeating Mukhammadkarim Khurramov from Uzbekistan in his very first fight. Then he moved to the quarterfinals to face the Israeli opponent, Peter Paltchik.

Aaron Wolf finished him and moved to the semi-finals to face the number one ranked Judoka in the -100 Kg, Varlam Liparteliani from Georgia. Liparteliani was the hot favorite to win the Gold Medal in this weight category but Wolf defeated him with a beautiful Waza-ari.

In the finals, he faced the winner of the 2018 Baku World Championship, Cho Guham from South Korea, who defeated the current world champion, Jorge Fonseca, in the semi-final fight. They fought really hard for the Gold Medal and in the end, it was Aaron Wolf who got crowned as the Olympic champion of the -100 Kg category.

Cho Guham fell short in front of Aaron Wolf but added Olympic Silver Medal to his resume

The 2018 Baku World Championship Gold Medalist, Cho Guham defied all the odds and won Silver Medal in the -100 Kg category of the Judo at the Tokyo Olympics. His road to the final wasn’t easy but he showed a phenomenal performance today.

Guham defeated the current World Champion, Jorge Fonseca in the semi-final fight and entered the final to face Aaron Wolf. Although he fell short in front of Wolf he added an Olympic Medal to his perfect resume.

The Russian Judoka, Niiaz Iliasov defeated the current number one ranked player, Varlam Liparteliani in the fight for Bronze Medal and added one more medal to Russia’s medal tally.

The current World Champion, Jorge Fonseca also added the missing piece in his perfect resume, i.e. as Olympic Medal by defeating Shady El Nahas from Canada in another Bronze Medal fights and bring one more medal to Portugal.
