Tokyo Olympics: Chizuru Arai becomes the -70 Kg Olympic Champion in Judo, claims sixth Gold Medal for Japan in Judo at the Tokyo Olympics

The -70 Kg Judoka from Japan, Chizuru Arai added one more Gold Medal for Japan in Judo at the Tokyo Olympics and claimed the Olympic throne on her home turf. This is the sixth medal for Japan in Judo at Tokyo Olympics and Aria concluded towards the phenomenal run of the home country.

Chizuru Aria was the hot favorite in this weight category to win a Gold Medal and she completely lives up to the expectations of the people of her country. Arai started her run by defeating Maria Perez from Puerto Rico in her first fight.

Then she faced Giovanna Scoccimarro from Germany in the quarter-final fight, Aria defeated her and moved to the semi-finals to face Madina Taimazova from Germany. Taimazova presented her with a real tough challenge but in the end, Chizuru Aria rose to the occasion and reached the finals.

In the finals, she faced Michaela Polleres from Austria and defeated her to claim the Olympic Gold Medal in the -70 Kg category of women’s Judo. Japan’s Judo team has won six Gold Medals out of ten weight category competitions that have been concluded at Tokyo Olympics so far.

Michaela Polleres fell short in front of Chizuru Arai and won Silver Medal for Austria

The Austrian Judoka, Michaela Polleres produced an absolutely flawless performance in the -70 Kg category of women’s judo. She defeated Sanee Van Dijke from the Netherlands in the semi-finals to face Aria in the finals.

Although, she fell short in front of Arai and lost to her in the finals on her home turf. But she managed to win a Silver Medal for Austria at the Tokyo Olympics.

Madina Taimazova and Sanee Van Dijke claimed Bronze Medals in the -70 Kg category

The Russian Judoka, Madina Taimazova defeated Barbara Matic from Croatia to claim the Bronze Medal in the -70 Kg category. She was considered the biggest threat for Aria but this time the Japanese defeated her.

Sanee Van Dijke from the Netherlands also claimed the Bronze Medal in the -70 Kg category by defeating Giovanna Scoccimarro from Germany.
