Online Chess Olympiad 2020 | Vidit Gujrati to lead India

On Sunday, Grandmaster Vidit Santosh Gujrati was entitled as a Captain of the Indian Team which is going to take part in Online Chess Olympiad 2020 going to begin from July 2020.

In the press release on Sunday, president of All India Chess Federation (AICF) P. R. Venkatrama Raja and secretary Vijay Deshpande said “India No.2 has been nominated as the skipper in consultation with former world champion and the country’s top player Vishwanathan Anand.”

“India No. 2 Grandmaster Vidit Gujarati has been nominated as captain of the Indian team which will take part in the Online Chess Olympiad 2020…This has been done in consultation with Vishy Anand and the selection committee by President of AICF P R Venkatarama Raja,” the AICF release stated.

The other members of the team are P. Harikrishna and Aravindh Chithambaram (National Champion), Koneru Humpy(World Rapid Champion), D. Harika, and young prodigy R. Praggnanandhaa among others.

The Indian squad of Men: Vidit Santosh Gujarati (captain), P. Harikrishna, Viswanathan Anand, and Aravindh Chithambaram (reserves).

The Indian squad of Women: Dronavalli Harika, Bhakti Kulkarni, Koneru Humpy and R. Vaishali (reserves).
Junior boys: Nihal Sarin, R. Praggnanandha (reserve).
Junior girls: Divya Deshmukh, Vantika Agrawal (reserve).
