UFC Fight Night: Waterson vs Rodriguez will be two fights lesser now after two bouts were cancelled. Ben Rothwell was scheduled to fight Philipe Lins in a heavyweight bout as the featured prelims. Rothwell had successfully made weight at 264.5 pounds, but then Lins was nowhere to be found, as there was a delay for quite a while.

It was then announced that Lins had failed a medical screening and will be out of the bout. Thus making it two bouts cancelled after Ryan Benoit vs Zarrukh Adashev was cancelled due to Ryan Benoit almost fainting at the weigh ins and coming in 3 pounds overweight.

The bout had already been rescheduled once, as the pair were set to faceoff in March 13, 2021 at UFC Fight Night 187.

‘I hope you are ok and can recover’ – Ben Rothwell

Veteran heavyweight Rothwell, then wished best of luck to Lins on Instagram, praying for him to recover soon. He captioned the post, “I made the weight , ready to go. UNFORTUNATELY my opponent has gotten ill today , and the fight has been scratched. @phillipelins I hope you are ok and can recover.”

A veteran of more than 50 fights, 39-year old Rothwell has been a part of the UFC since 2009. Though he has never challenged for the title, he has managed to stay relevant in the UFC. He is coming off a loss against Marcin Tybura in October, last year.

Philipe Lins, made his UFC debut only last year. The former PFL fighter hasn’t won even once in the UFC, losing to Andrei Arlovski and Tanner Boser.
