Premier League: Manchester City vs Burnley Player Ratings as City easily put away Burnley

Manchester City clinch a comfortable 2-0 victory against a decent Burnley side at the Etihad, thanks to goals from Bernardo silva and Kevin De Bruyne. Man City were the better team while attacking but they left spaces for Burnley at times which was concerning.Man City absolutely manhandled Burnley from the early stages as but could not get a lot of chances in the box.

However, they grew into the game and got the first goal off Silva’s close-range finish after Foden struck powerfully for Pope to divert it to danger. Burnley got golden chances through Brownhill and Cornet and woodwork shot off Wood, but could not do anything.

The second half started with Manchester City dominating the play again and looked very comfortable in the ball. They got their second goal from a pinball football in the box as De Bruyne buried the chance with his left foot. Man City move to second for the time being with the win.

Zack Steffen: 7/10Steffen was brilliant in the goal for Manchester City in saving a crucial one on one situation off Cornet and was also sharp in clearing the lines.

Joao Cancelo: 7/10Cancelo was exceptional attackingly and supported Bernardo and Mahrez well with the overlapping runs, but left the gap open in the defense few times for Cornet.

John Stones: 8/10Stones had a very solid game at the back as he pocketed the Burnley attack pretty well. He covered for the attack leaning Cancelo well.

Aymeric Laporte: 8/10A rock-solid show from Laporte as he held the defensive line really well for Manchester City and denied any extra touches in the box from the Burnley side and also passed flawlessly.

Nathan Ake: 7/10Ake was not the brightest while passing but he did the basics pretty well for the team.

Rodri: 8/10Rodri was exceptional as always in the midfield for Manchester City by hielding the defense and opening the passing lines.

Kevin De Bruyne: 8/10De Bruyne did not have the best of games considering his ability but his quality in the game got him a goal.

Bernardo Silva: 9/10Definitely a Man of the Match contender as Bernardo Silva was everywhere, from picking Burnley pockets to finishing the moves.

Riyad Mahrez: 6/10Mahrez looked a bit rusty in crucial passes and finishing touches but his movement was very important in the game for Manchester City.

Phil Foden: 6/10Foden had a decent outing as he did not bomb forward a lot in the first half but was pivotal in making the runs and picking spaces.

Raheem Sterling: 7/10Sterling had a quite game but had a good game as he was not provided with a lot in the game and had no clear chances.

Ruben Dias: 6/10Dias replaced Laporte just to get some minutes and did well keeping the clean sheet intact.

Nick Pope: 7/10Pope would be gutted to see a goal being conceded because of a rebound off him but he did well in general to not concede more.

Matthew Lowton: 6/10Lowton had a difficult game as he failed to contain the pressure put by the left side of the Man City attack.

James Tarkowski: 7/10Tarkowski had a good individual game and he did not let the fluid attackers in Foden and Steling to do a lot.

Nathan Collins: 6/10Nothing much could Collins have done as they had to block low the whole game and the CBs suffered a lot.

Erik Pieters: 6/10Erik Pieters had a very tough evening on his flank as Mahrez, Silva and Cancelo were working wonders. However, Pieters did well to contain them.

Josh Brownhill: 6/10Brownhill did well to pop up at good places for the run of play but he would be gutted to not bury the ball into Steffen’s net in the first half.

Jack Cork: 5/10Cork had a bad game as he could not win duels and was caught in possession a lot of times.Ashley Westwood: 5/10Westwood was chasing the ball whole game and whenever he got the ball, he could not do a lot therefore being average.

Dwight McNeil: 8/10McNeil was undoubtedly the best Burnley player as he was amazing in dribbling and also put some defense splitting passes.

Maxwel Cornet: 6/10Cornet had a golden opportunity in the first half but only to hit it slow and low to Steffen’s body but was lively at many moments.

Chris Wood: 6/10Burnley’s star man Wood was not seen much in the game and his highlight came when he could have put the ball in the net but instead hit the bar.
