Premier League and EFL transfer window will run from 27th July to 5th October if approved by FIFA. The transfer window is poised to open a day after the 2019-20 season will end. A delay to the end of the 2019-20 season was caused due to the COIVD-19 pandemic.
EFL said in a statement, “The window for International registrations closes at 23:00 BST on Monday 5th October, with an agreement in place with the Premier League for an extended two-week domestic-only window, which will close at 17:00 on Friday, 16 October.”
During the domestic only window, clubs will only be able to trade with EFL clubs (loans and permanent registrations). Transfers cannot take place between the Premier League clubs, during this period. Also, the new signings will not be able to play until the start of 2020-21 season.
The EFL are yet to announce the dates for the start of new season. Delay in the 2019-20 season has led to reduction in number of matchdays for the upcoming seasons. The EFL are concerned as the reduction in matchdays will affect the cup competitions. 12 September is the most likely date for restart, although nothing is confirmed.
