Paris Saint-Germain lost 2-0 against Monaco to hand Mauricio Pochettino his 2nd loss as Paris manager. Mauricio Pochettino was disappointed after being beaten by Monaco and said his side “never found a way to break down their defensive line.”

In-form Monaco upset Ligue 1 champions PSG in a blow to their title hopes. The Parisians slipped four points behind leaders Lille with 12 games remaining.

This was PSG’s sixth loss of the Ligue 1 campaign which is their worst tally since Qatar Sports Investment’s involvement in 2011. Their dicey start to the campaign led to the sacking of Thomas Tuchel.

Paris thrashed Barcelona 4-1 in the first leg of the Champions League but failed to defeat Monaco. Kylian Mbappe had a game to forget after his Champions league heroics against Barcelona. However, Pochettino put all his faith behind the young forward and took all the blame himself.

“Today, it’s not only Kylian but the whole team that hasn’t been at the level,” Pochettino said post-game.

“That didn’t show what it takes to win. But as I said, the first person responsible is the manager and I take responsibility for it.

“When you lose, the first person responsible is the manager and I fully assume it.”

“We were not good enough and that is why we lost the game. We decided before but in the moment that we conceded the second goal it’s was similar, two approaches from Monaco and we conceded.”

Paris will look to bounce back against Gijon as they have now slipped to 3rd in the table. They are 4 points behind Ligue 1 leaders Lille.
