PUBG Mobile which is published by Krafton and marketed by Tencent Holdings has generated the highest overall revenue as per a report of Sensor Tower.
PUBG Mobile is an online multiplayer battle-royale game developed and published by PUBG Corporation, a subsidiary of South Korean video game company Bluehole which is now known as Krafton. The game was initially launched for PC versions. Tencent having signed a publication deal with Bluehole for the Windows version, additionally announced to develop the mobile version of PUBG with the help of LightSpeed & Quantum Studio, an internal division of Tencent Games. The game was released worldwide on March 19, 2018.
Ever since then, Tencent has been growing rapidly as PUBG Mobile has accumulated over 1 billion downloads as of March 2021, and also became the highest grossing game as of July 2021.
PUBG Mobile generates the highest revenue in July 2021
According to a report from SensorTower, PUBG Mobile generated over $299 million from player spending in July which has increased almost 26.7 percent more than the previous year. It is followed by Honor of Kings, another video game from Tencent which became the second most grossing mobile game worldwide with over $231.2 million gross revenue.
PUBG Mobile generated over $1.5 billion gross revenue and is set to hit the $2 billion mark in the upcoming month. Approximately 68.4 percent of PUBG Mobile’s revenue was from China and the localized version of the title, Game For Peace, followed by 6.7 percent from the United States and 6 percent from Turkey. The revenue does not include from third-party Android stores in China or other regions.
PUBG PC also became the 5th best highest selling game of all time with 75 million copies sold. The game solidified itself in emerging markets such as India, the Middle East and North Africa according to a press conference held by Krafton 25th July,2021. Genshin Impact by Mihoyo was able to bag the 3rd position for generating the highest revenue. Even though Garena Free Fire has been growing rapidly particularly in those countries where PUBG Mobile was banned, it has only been able to secure the 9th position.
Pokémon GO also did exceptionally well in July 2021, generating $150.4 million in player spending globally. A part of that success emerges from Pokémon GO Fest, an annual, ticketed event. The global mobile games market generated $7.6 billion from player spending across the App Store and Google Play in July 2021, marking an increase of 7.2 percent year-over-year.
Other games which were able to secure a poisition in the Top 10 list were Roblox, Coin Master, Candy Crush Saga, Uma Musume Pretty Derby and Three Kingdom Tactics.
