PUBG Mobile in global demand; Doubles its Lifetime Global revenue in just 7 months


PUBG Mobile user base is continuously growing. It is the most dominant eSport right now. PUBG was created in 2018 and has now 50 million daily active users. The graph of the game is constantly showing an exponential curve and it has been able to attract users worldwide as the game offers or region based versions of the game.

The global success of PUBG Mobile has brought loads of fortune to Tencent, its original publisher. Tencent has been able to double its Lifetime Global revenue in a span of 7 months. Before 7 months, the game had generated a revenue of $1.5 billion USD and now it has generated a revenue of $3 billion USD.

In the first half of 2020 alone, the global revenue of the game has reached $50 billion. This revenue is an upscale of 23% from “Global spending in the title for the first half of 2020 was more than four times greater than another major mobile shooter, Garena Free Fire from Garena, which has accumulated more than $300 million so far this year.”

But it is to be noted that the Chinese version of the game has alone made a revenue of $1.6 billion in the Chinese app store which is 52% of the total revenue. 

Also 79% of the earnings have been from Apple’s app store while 21% from Android devices. Besides, 65% of downloads are from the Play Store while the rest are from the Apple app store. India ranks highest with over 175 million downloads.
