In Cyberpunk 2077 you can hack almost everything in your vision, ranging from objects like TV screens to even some NPCs. Hacking in this game is referred to as Quickhacks and can be used in combat, stealth and to just simply have fun. Using Quickhacks in Cyberpunk 2077 can truly change the core game-play and the way players approach combat.

Equipping and using Quickhacks in Cyberpunk 2077: The basics

Quickhacks needs to be loaded into the player’s Cyberdeck to be of use. The Cyberdeck can be accessed at the bottom right of the clothes section in the inventory. Once inside, players need to select the active mods that will be to the right of the screen. The number of mods can be increased after upgrading the Cyberdeck but the game lets you start with two. Players can choose to activate the desired mods from the inventory by double-clicking on them. These can be efficiently switched in between missions too for quick access. This additional feature makes the Quickhack quite flexible to use.

The player has a mode called the scanner mode. The player needs to go into this mode to use Quickhacks. This feature gives the player additional vision information on what is hack-able within sight. The reticle must be placed over the object or person to find out if it is hackable or not. If yes, then a list appears of the left side of the screen that displays all the hacks you can perform. This however depends upon the Quickhacks equipped in the Cyberdeck. Players then need to select their desired hack and the hack will be prompted to the targeted object or person.

Players can get a plethora of things to do with the hack. Some of these include locating enemies, distracting them, disable NPCs, and a mix of all these if necessary. Quickhacks can be obtained throughout the futuristic Night City and can even be bought from stores, finishing quests and missions.

Quickhacks are definitely a fresh take on the gameplay mechanics of an RPG. It would be refreshing to see the changes and further implementations this brings about, in future games.
