Rafael Nadal made a comeback to the tennis court when he returned for the Monte Carlo Masters. This was his first tournament since the Australian Open. A calculated move as the event would be played on clay, a surface which Nadal has dominated on for years now. But, events did not unfold the way Nadal or his fans had hoped. He was ousted in the Quarter-final of the competition by Andrey Rublev.
Nadal moved on from disappointment of the tournament loss quickly and focused his attention on the Barcelona Open. At Barcelona Nadal has reached the Final and is scheduled to play against Stefanos Tsitsipas. He has along the way defeated players of repute, like Kei Nishikori and Pablo Carreño Busta.
