The interesting fight finally comes to an end with ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ successfully defending his title against Jorge Masvidal at UFC 251. Though it was anticipated that the match would be quite interesting, it turned out to be a one-sided thoughout. Masvidal had managed quite well in the primary stage of the match but Usman turned the match into his favor once he took Masvidal to the ground. After this the fight continuously stood in Usman’s favor for consecutive 5 rounds.

However, Usman was not able to finish the fight but still gained an impressive victory over Jorge via unanimous decision. And because of this performance, many people including fellow UFC fighters have termed Usman’s performance as boring. As ‘Gamebred’ had took the fight on notice of 6 days, everyone was expecting Usman to blow some hard punches on Masvidal. In turn, the fight was less interesting.

After the fight, Usman took a conference and responded to his critics by comparing himself with Floyd Mayweather. Usman said that he slept for only 10 hours in the last three days and was satisfied with the way he won the fight and defended his title.

Responding to the criticism, he said that Floyd and his defense was so good but at a point he was also hated. He said, “Floyd and his defense was so good and he was just so good. People just want to see a bar fight, you know we ate risking our lives in there and we have trained every day, that’s the most important part of training and then go in slugging and taking around punches you train to able to make someone miss to able to control them in a certain way, that’s what training is for. There was a time where people started hating Floyd Mayweather because he was so dominant,” said Kamaru Usman, indirectly lauding himself.

Usman is also undefeated currently in the UFC. He has stellar pro record of 17-1.
