Restrata beats Tata to secure IPL Bio-bubble deal

Indian Premier League is all set to start off from September 19

With the IPL teams set to reach the UAE starting this week. Everyone is required to go through a mandatory 6-day quarantine along with COVID tests before commencing their training. The same UK-Based Firm which has created the bio-bubble for the two Test series in England against the West Indies and Pakistan. And is likely to be roped in to manage the bio-safety bubble for the IPL in the UAE.

Restrata specialises in integrated safety, security and mobility operating system and has been working with the England Cricket Board for quite some time. Restrata has also been in charge of developing and implementing specialised security systems in the 2012 London Olympics.

Big firms like-Tata Medical and Diagnostics were in contention. But now reports suggest that Restrata is in advanced talks with the BCCI. Things should be formalised in a day or two. Whereas the local UAE media has reported that a local company, VPS Healthcare are the front-runners.

This is the first time that Restrata would be managing a cricketing tournament as big as the IPL, after successfully securing two Test series in England

Since the tournament will be held across three venues – Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah – it is important to make sure that the bio-bubble is intact. In the time of pandemic, the health and safety issues of all the players and other stakeholders are of utmost importance, so we cannot afford to compromise on that,” an official told Sportstar.

Keeping all the health and safety standards in mind, accreditation cards are issued to all the stakeholders containing a GPS chip. This is done to simple track and the movement of the people inside the bubble.
