Rio Ferdinand speaks after the Chelsea win

The match was a clear reflection of the difference in quality between the La Liga and the Premier League. Atletico Madrid who are the current table toppers in Spain gave a completely lacklustre performance against fifth placed Chelsea.

Throughout the game Atletico Madrid couldn’t threaten the Chelsea goal with the so called La Liga goal machine Luis Suarez spending the night in Rudiger and Christensen’s pocket. Former Manchester United player Rio Ferdinand has correctly pointed out the difference in quality between the two League.

Chelsea seemed to coast, fantastic finish, and didn’t get tested after that. Not being at the stadium helps as well. They feed off that and probably lost that edge as well.
‘When you play an away game in Europe, you get a 1-0 win you go home with that you’re laughing. Maybe even afford to switch it up a bit. He’ll be able to shuffle the pack again. If they’re professional about it they’ll sail through, this isn’t the Atletico Madrid team we’ve seen.’
