Manchester City put five past Burnley in the Premier League on Saturday. This is the third time in a row that Manchester City have secured 5 or more at Turf Moor in the League ; that’s a remarkable statistic.
Riyad Mahrez was the star of the show for Manchester City as he scored his first Hattrick for the club. Ferran Torres and Benjamin Mendy were the other two goalscorers.
Riyad Mahrez scores his first hat-trick for Manchester City
James Tarkowski gifted the first goal to City via his loose pass to Rodri. Kevin De Bruyne fed in Mahrez who slotted the ball in with his left foot. His second goal as well came off a mistake as Charlie Taylor misjudged a Kyle Walker throw-in to give Mahrez space.
The Algerian saw the opportunity and fired the ball in the right hand corner. Benjamin Mendy scored the third just before halftime. Kevin De Bruyne delivered the cross from the right hand side and Mendy on the volley scored a stunner. City led 3-0 at halftime.
The fourth goal came from a lovely flowing move from City. Fernandinho freed up Mahrez on the right as he passed the ball to the overlapping Kyle Walker. He in turn crossed TO Gabriel Jesus only for Ferran Torres to receive the final ball and score past Peacock- Farrel.
Pep Guardiola is pleased with the win
It was important to come back with a victory in the Premier League,” said Guardiola.
“The problem today is with 10 games [in short succession] the players lose the joy of playing football,” he said.
“Before it was nice playing football once or twice a week with spectators. Now it’s three days – another one.”
