Israel Adesanya and Robert Whittaker

The former UFC Middleweight champion Robert Whittaker is on a two-fight win streak since he lost the title to Israel Adesanya. Adesanya named Jared Cannonier as his next opponent if he wins against Whittaker.

But ‘The Reaper’ spoiled Jared Cannonier’s title chance with a unanimous decision win against him in this last fight. Even after maintaining the number 1 spot in the rankings, Adesanya doesn’t seem interested in running things back with Robert Whittaker.

In one of his latest interview with ESPN, Whittaker says, “It’s hard to say, the UFC and Izzy have all the power, So I’m just looking at this as it’s how I make a living, this is my job and I love my job, I enjoy making a living providing for my family like this.”

“So I’m just going to do my thing, I’m going to work hard, earn my money, and then I’m going to enjoy time with my family and the lifestyle that it provides me.”

Israel Adesanya faced the first defeat of his career in his last match against Jan Blachowicz and in order to get a rematch against Adesanya, Whittaker needs to win his next match against Kelvin Gastelum.

Whittaker added, “Perhaps, perhaps, it’s very hard to adapt the plans without Blachowicz’s power. But we’ve got to wait and see how Izzy comes back down to middleweight,”

“I’ve got a couple of things up my sleeve I’m looking to try next time we cross paths, so we’ll wait and see.” Adesanya already named the next opponent that he wants to Darren Till if he wins one or two fights.

It is going to be interested to see where Robert Whittaker will fit in the title picture now.
