Roger Federer has been engaged in the process of relocating to a new home, near Lake Zurich. Roger and Mirka Federer had identified a stunning property in Rappersil-Jona, where they would build their new home. The couple had hoped to move into their new property by the end of 2021.

However, in a latest development, the construction work has been stalled for several important reasons. Federer and his building crew have several tasks on their hand, as they need to fix the contaminated land near the lake-shore. When the site was inspected, it was found to have scrap and rubble scattered throughout. This was the main reason, why the work was temporarily suspended.

Environmentalists against Roger Federer’s new home

Another reason which has halted the construction work, is the growing concern from the environmentalists. Water protection organization, Aqua Viva have campaigned against Federer’s new home. They have been successful in temporarily halting the construction work, as the Swiss suffers a huge setback. He will have to submit a new application in order for the work to resume.

Roger Federer last played at the Qatar Open 2021, where he lost in the quarterfinals, after making his comeback after almost over 13 months. The Swiss maestro will now return to action at the Geneva Open next month, and has also confirmed his participation at the French Open. However, his main priority for this season, remains the Wimbledon Championships, where he hopes to regain his full match fitness.
