India is attracting football club owners from all over the world. In this row, Spanish football league La Liga on Thursday named Indian cricketer Rohit Sharma as it’s brand ambassador. Cricket is very popular in India and Spanish league using cricket icon to popularize football. The Indian cricketer is the first-ever non-footballer brand ambassador appointed by La Liga globally.

La Liga has focus on Indian football since 2017 to nurture the sports and make it popular among it’s youth. La Liga has openen it’s office in India and taken key initiatives like La Liga football schools. They are broadcasting all 3000 matches for free to Indian audience by partnering with Facebook.

Jose Antonio Cachaza, Managing Director of La Liga said ” India is very important market for La Liga on a global perspective. We came here in 2017 and they have understand that India have huge appeal for football.”

La Liga is the men’s top professional football division of the Spanish football league system. La Liga is one of the most popular professional sports league in the world, with an average attendance of 26,933 for league matches in the 2018–19 season. Manchester City also invested in India with Mumbai FC. These initiative will definitely help Indian football to grow in coming years.
