In the latest ICC player rankings, Indian opener Rohit Sharma has stormed into the top 10 among batsmen. Rohit has been in great touch following a no-show in the series opener against England. He has been the top scorer for India in their last two Tests and the result showed in the rankings as he jumped four places. Ever since he has started opening the innings in Tests, he has been unstoppable with his average at home is close to 90.
Among batsmen, Cheteshwar Pujara is the lone name who dropped in the top 10. Following a duck in the pink ball Test, he slipped two places to finish 10th on the list. Barring the Indian duo, there have been no changes in the top ten of the list. Kane Williamson continues to reign supreme with 919 points. The Australian duo of Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne make up the top three.
Ravichandran Ashwin gains big
There is quite some movement in the latest Test rankings for bowlers. Following two impressive performances, Ravichandran Ashwin has stormed his way back into the top three. Ashwin scalped seven wickets in the third Test against England as he went past the 400 wicket mark in his Test career. He is the fastest Indian to the milestone and second fastest overall.
Among others, Proteas quick Kagiso Rabada gained a place while James Anderson slipped three places to finish sixth. Stuart Broad and Jasprit Bumrah were others who slipped in the top ten following a dismal outing in the last two Test matches. Pat Cummins and Neil Wagner held on to the top spots with 908 and 825 ranking points respectively.
