Roma 2-2 Inter Milan: Inter back to second place on the Serie A table

Inter Milan came from behind to earn a point after a draw with AS Roma. The 88th penalty goal from the substitute Romelu Lukaku aided Inter to a 2-2 draw on Sunday.

Antonio Conte’s side took the lead in the 15th minute after Stefan de Vrij scored his fourth goal of the season. The Dutchman headed in Alexis Sanchez’s corner to make it 1-0.

Though, Roma equalised on the stroke of half-time after goal from Leonardo Spinazzola. Despite Inter players claiming Aleksandar Kolarov fouled Lautaro Martinez was fouled in the build-up. The goal was given after a VAR-check which made it 1-1.

Roma then took the lead after the ball took a fortunate ricochet off Inter defenders, which bounced up nicely for Mkhitaryan who made a run into the box after finally firing it over Handanovic into the back of the net.

Spinazzola concedes penalty in a bizarre fashion as the Italian tried to clear the ball. He ended up kicking Moses leg conceding an 88th minute penalty at the edge of the box. The Belgian Lukaku powerful spot-kick sends Pau Lopez the wrong way to snatch away two points from Roma’s grasp.

Inter missed the chance to close the gap to Juventus to three points. They now sit five points behind the Serie A leaders. However, they overthrew Atalanta to take the second spot closing in for Juventus.

Inter will play against Fiorentina in their next Serie A game. While, Roma will face recently relegated SPAL away from home.
