Retirement is nowhere on the cards for Rafa Nadal. The 19-time Grand Slam champ believes that though the pandemic has impacted billions of lives, brought the world to a standstill, and hampered the practice schedule of athletes, he’s strongly optimistic that the world will again start to bustle with its uncontrollable energy in the near future.

About his own finesse and techniques, leave the wish to be able to play internationally, he hasn’t had the chance to hold a racquet in a couple of months and half. Physical Fitness, at least, has been on the downline.

Rafael said, “I think longer stops for the older bodies are tougher than for younger bodies because it’s more difficult to get back to 100 percent”

“But at the same time, of course, we have experience too. I have the experience of injuries that I’ve had in the past, so in some ways we know how to come back. I can’t tell you if we will be able to play longer or not – and we will never know.” he added.

Nadal is surely swearing by the good old saying, “Drop by drop is the water pot filled. Likewise, the wise man, gathering it little by little, fills himself with good.”

“As you can imagine I need to take things step by step. I’m just trying to avoid injuries.

That’s the main thing today. To avoid injuries, I need to practice step by step and increase the amount of work every single week.”

“Sometimes I practice for just one hour, sometimes for one hour and a half, that’s all. I’m just trying to make positive preparations for what might happen in the next couple of months. I am passionate about coming back on the tour and keeping playing, hopefully for a couple more years, and keeping enjoying one of the things that I like the most, enjoying playing tennis in a full stadium with the energy of the crowd.”

That’s all each one of us can do right now. Little help counts: supporting front liners, the unemployed, the needy and everybody around us. Let’s spread cheer so that the world soon becomes a better place to live in.
