Indonesia Masters 2020: A frustrating day as all India lost 11 out of 12 matches

It was a disastrous day for Indian shuttlers at Indonesia Masters. One could not have imagined that Indian badminton will suffer such a low in an Olympic year.

Former world number 1 Kidambi Srikant woes continues in Indonesia Masters. This is his another loss in first round in past few months.

He started well and won the first game by 21-18. But the 19th seed local boy Shesar Rhustavito came back strongly and gave no chance to Kidambi. He won next two set without breaking much sweat and won the match by 21-12, 21-14.

Kidambi is troubled with poor form since he was injured last year. With this loss his Olympic qualification is in doldrums. Fans are hoping that he will come back strongly but till now he has disappointed.

In next match Sourabh Verma followed the same pattern as Srikant. He won the first game by 21-17 against Chinese Lu Guwag Zu. But in next two games the Chinese dominated and won the match by 17-21, 21-15, 21-10 in 57 minutes.

After two loses everybody was hoping that Sai Praneeth will cheer the Indian fans. He was looking good and started well to win the first game against the 8th seed Shi Yu Qi. In second game both played well and it went neck to neck. But the Chinese finished the game in his favor. In third set Shi gave no chance to Praneeth and won the match by 16-21, 21-18, 21-10 in 52 minutes.

After losing all these matches it was upto Saina Nehwal to break the pattern. But she failed to do so and lost to Japanese Sayaka Takahashi by 19-21, 21-13, 21-5 in 50 minutes.

She started well to win the first game. In second game Japanese was on a roll and stromed to 11-2 lead in mid game interval. But Saina made a comeback to reduce the gap to 11-13. But that was not enough as Sayaka finished the game well.

In third game Japanese completely dominated and thrashed Saina Nehwal by 21-5 in last game.
