Serena to miss her home crowd

The former World No.1, will be aiming her 24th Grand Slam title to equal the record of Margret Court. She would have clearly wanted the home crowd to have her back, but unfortunately, that it will not be possible. In a recent interview with The People, she said “I’ve always played with such a big crowd, how will I do? I don’t even know. But I look at it as another experience”

Serena turned professional in 1995. She attained success in the early years of her career and has come a long way. For a player of that stature, an empty stadium with no spectators on the seats and the echo of the ball hitting the racket will be a physical and mental challenge. In her career of over two decades, this is certainly the first time she will have to play in such settings.

Serena has been the runner up for the past two years at the Flushing Meadows, this year again she will try her luck to win the Championship.

Serena has been practising on a hard court, the same surface she has to hustle on at the US Open. She has continued her training with her coach Patrick Mouratoglou virtually since he is in France.
