Serena Williams has a record 23 Grand Slams; a tally not achieved by anyone else in the sport in the modern era. But ever since her last victory coming in 2017, Serena has lost 4 Grand Slam Finals since then. And as evident as the fact, that time is against her, with the US Veteran turning 39. This could possibly the last chance, by all means, to move her tally even to record-breaking 24.
Her struggle to achieve the ultimate prize has been known to all. With the new schedule coming in, US Open being held in Flushing Meadows concerns a lot of favorites. With Serena Williams already giving her indications that she will be a part of the tournament; this could be a clear-cut opportunity for her.
Serena’s coach Patrick Mouratoglou who for some time now, has been praising her coachee for the improvements she has been showing and the fact that she still has the ability to clinch the throne.
In an interview with Ubi Tennis, Patrick talked about Serena and her plans as he said, “From what I know there is no quarantine from Europe to the US because the situation is much better now. The plan is to go to New York with Serena and then come back to Europe. But I wanna make sure that we both will be on time in Europe. So this quarantine on the way back from the US to Europe is a serious question we need answers to because in order to take any kind of decision we need the right information.”
That being said, nothing is better to win a Grand Slam and break a record in your territory. US Open starts from 31st August and there is no doubt that Serena can potentially play the game of her life to satisfy her inevitable desperation for the 24th Grand Slam Title. She surely has the will to go on and beat the best players to overcome her dominance.
