Serena Williams, 23 time Grandslam champion has achieved tremendous success on the tennis court. The American is one of the most followed athletes throughout the world. Out of the several things that has culminated in making her a champion, it is her passion and determination for the game.

Even at the age of 39, when most tennis players have hung up their racquets, Serena is still out there, competing for the biggest titles. Moreover, the American is an inspiration off the court, and has also been vocal in voicing her opinions. Recently, on Mother’s Day, the 23 time Grandslam champion reveals how her tennis career has helped in inspiring other mothers around the world.

Serena Williams an ‘inspiration’ for several mothers around the globe

Serena Williams gave birth to her only child, Olympia in 2017, and faced some serious post-delivery complications. Moreover, the tennis legend was two months pregnant when she lifted the Australian Open 2017 title. On the special occasion of Mother’s Day, the American took part in ESPN SportsCenter’s episode called ‘To Be a Mom.’

“It’s amazing to be in this position where I have the opportunity to say to women that are moms – you can do it,” Serena said.

Serena Williams last competed at the Australian Open 2021, where she lost to Naomi Osaka in the semifinals. She withdrew from the Madrid Open 2021 due to personal reasons. She will compete at the Italian Open this week, and will hope to regain her fitness before the all-important French Open.
