The Rome Open will also be her 2021 debut on the Clay after her recovery from the oral surgery which forced her to pull out from the Miami Open 2021 as well. With the fans waiting for the star’s return, coach Patrick Mouratoglou has shared a video on Twitter which gives the fans a glimpse of the former World No. 1’s preparations.

Serena is a 4-time champion at Rome with her last title coming at the 2016 Rome Open where she defeated Maddison Keys in straight sets.

Getting the 5th title before the much anticipated Rolland Garros 2021 will be the perfect preparation for the American superstar who will be looking for her 4th French Open title at the 2021 Edition of the tournament.

Serena has a pretty good record on Clay with her career record reading 141-26 but since the start of 2017 season she has played only 8 matches on clay and is 7-1 for those matches. With only 1 game in 2020 and 1st game of 2021, Serena is undergoing strong training to be at her absolute best for the remainder of the clay season.

The WTA Rome Open 2021 starts from 10th May and will conclude on 16th May, 2021.
