Serie A : Atalanta vs Sassuolo player ratings as Atalanta bag an easy 2-1 win

Atalanta played their fifth encounter of this year’s Serie A against Sassuolo at Gewiss Stadium which is also known as Atleti Azzurri d’Italia. It was a crucial game for both the teams to bag some points to climb up the points table. Atlanta were the favourites to begin with as they’d performed better than Sassuolo so far.

As the match begun, Atalanta tried to adhere their dominance and did so with emphatic style. Thanks to Robin Gosens, Atalanta got the opening goal and the lead in the 3rd minute of the clash. Their lead was doubled in the 37th minute after Davide Zappacosta scored a brilliant goal off Zapata’s assist. However, a minute before first-half ended, Domenico Berardi redeemed Sassuolo by scoring a magnificent goal and the scoreline read 2-1.

Atalanta

Juan Musso (GK) (6.4/10) : Musso did concede a goal in the first-half but turned out to be a consolation one. He did make a couple of punches to steer the ball away from the goal while also making three certain clearences. A decent game overall.

Rafael Tolói (7/10) : The defender looked extremely confident and good with his pace. He tore through the midfield like a knife. He won almost all ground duels and also made five sucessful tackles. A captain leading from the front indeed.

Merih Demiral (7.4/10) : One of the best performances on field by Merih Demiral. He was exceptional in the defence having made four clearences while winning four interceptions and five tackles. He was invincible at ground and ariel duels, he won them all. An eventful match indeed for him.

Berat Djimsiti (6.9/10) : A decent performance by Berat. He didn’t seem to hesitate taking on the players and winning some tackles in his bag. However, he did find some difficulty in providing a long ball. He failed on numerous occasions.

Davide Zappacosta (8.2/10) : Zappacosta had the best time in the first half with his skillwork. He created two big chances off which he scored a brilliant goal in the 37th minute to double Atalanta’s lead in the match.

Teun Koopmeiners (7.1/10) : Teun played out the match with all his might. He did really good with his passing skills but did partially well at winning ground duels. He had a shy at goal but was completely off target.

Marten de Roon (7/10) : Roon was one of the most active players on the pitch. He won fair few tackles to win possession but he didn’t do that well when it came on to taking on challenges from Sassuolo.

Robin Gosens (7.5/10) : The 27-year-old German international gave Atalanta the perfect start in the match-up. He converted Ruslan Malinovskiy’s assist into a beautiful finish in the back of the net to give his side the lead in the 3rd minute of the game.

Ruslan Malinovskiy (7.6/10) : The assist to Gosens in the third minute of the game was next to brilliant. Ruslan has had a wonderful game. After a wonderful assist, he had two chances at goal but went off target on both.

Matteo Pessina (6.7/10) : Matteo had a really eventful game today. He had several chances at bagging a goal from which he was off target on two occasions and on target on one. He missed out on a huge opportunity which could’ve helped Atalanta with another goal in the bank.

Duván Zapata (7/10) : The assist from Zapata to Zappacosta was an impressive won and worked wonders for Atalanta. That assist helped them double the lead which kept the pressure going on Sassuolo.

Substitutes

Joakim Mæhle (6.5/10) : Joakim did a fair bit of a contribution with his passing but didn’t impact the match in anyway.

Giuseppe Pezzella (6.5/10) : Pezzella failed at ground duels quite miserably. He also had a shy at goal but was way off target.

Josip Illicic (7/10) : Josip looked really confident and did create a huge chance for goal which wasn’t converted.

Andrea Consigli (GK) (6.5/10) : Andrea had a mildly busy day with the gloves. He made a fair few saves and an important save from inside the box. However, that didn’t help as much after having conceded two goals to nil by the 37th minute.

Mert Müldür (6.7/10) : Mert provided a brilliant assist to Berardi to bring some hope and smiles in the Sassuolo dugout. He brilliantly gave a ball through to Berardi who then converted it into a magnificent finish in the back of the net. However, Mert lost possession on one too many occasions.

Kaan Ayhan (6.7/10) : Kaan Ayhan did a really good job at defending. He looked really quick with his feat which helped him win easy tackles. However, he couldn’t do much as he didn’t co-ordinate well with the other defenders to defend their goal.

Gian Marco Ferrari (6.8/10) : Gian was really good with the left hand side of the defence. He did tick all the boxes for defending nicely, however, he didn’t pair well to contribute or impact in a masive way.

Giorgos Kyriakopoulos (6.6/10) : Giorgos made certain really good interceptions, however he lost a lot of possession while in hunt of getting themselves possession from their opposing team.

Davide Frattesi (6.9/10) : Frattesi did really good with his passing and just played for 82 minutes before getting substituted. Frattesi did a fine job at ground duels but faced difficulty as the match progressed.

Francesco Magnanelli (6.5/10) : Just the 60 minutes gameplay for Francesco. He did really well his passing and he was performing consistently. He made the long ball deliveries looked to easy.

Domenico Berardi (7.6/10) : Desperate for a comeback, Sassuolo needed a goal inside the first half to have any hopes to keep the match alive. That’s what Berardi did by scoring a wonderful goal a minute before first-half to make it 2-1.

Hamed Traorè (6.9/10) : Hamed too found himself replaced after all this while. He played for 67 minutes and in that time he managed to create a huge important goal scoring opportunity which doesn’t seem like he was converting anyday.

Jeremie Boga (6.4/10) : Jeremie lost possession on a lot of occasions. I swear I couldn’t do that I’ll and go to sleep that’s all, way too sleepy.

Grégoire Defrel (5.8/10) : It was the worst possible games for Defrel. He couldn’t have asked for better chances than these. Defrel had three attempts at goal and all of them were off target. Out of those, two were big chances missed which could have gotten Sassuolo the win and three points.

Filip Duricic (6.5/10): Not the best of day’s for Filip. He barely won any ground duel and barely got any teaches, Next time in the next time.

Abdou Harroui (6.5/10): In the half-an-hour that Abdou got to witness on field, he was just low on confidence as he couldn’t perform well.

Giacomo Raspadori (6.7/10): Giacomo did a really good job at having kept the ball moving and helping in creating opportunities.
