Stadio Arechi is all set to witness a fierce encounter between Salernitana and Atalanta for their fourth match of Serie A 2021/22. Salernitana were currently placed in the bottom half of the points table with Atalanta. Salernitana haven’t won a single game yet and are yet to open their account. This match will play a crucial role for both the teams in order to climb up the points table.
As the match begun, both the teams went at it to get hold of the possession. It was a tough first-half with neither of the teams scoring a goal. Then came in the late winner by Duván Zapata that earned Atalanta three points and the seventh slot on the points table.
It was an exhilarating contest between the two teams and here is how the players faired in the game :
Vid Belec (GK) (6.8/10) : Vid did a good job with the gloves as he made a couple of generic saves while he made a great save from inside the box. However, he couldn’t hold onto the late goal which cost them the match.
Norbert Gyömbér (6.4/10) : Not the best days on the field for the defender as he gave away possession on as many as fifteen times and he didn’t do well with passing.
Stefan Strandberg (7.1/10) : Undoubtedly the best defender for Salernitana in today’s game. Stefan did an impeccable job at winning interceptions and also blocked two goal scoring shots and steered them away from the box.
Riccardo Gagliolo (6.7/10) : Apart from winning a couple of interceptions and doing well with dribbling past the opposing attack, Riccardo had a decent game.
Wajdi Kechrida (6.5/10) : Wajdi did a decent job playing in the midfield. He got himself opportunities on couple of occasions. At first he was way off target while the other was blocked in the defence.
Mamadou Coulibaly (7.7/10) : Mamadou was the heart of Salernitana’s lineup. He took care of the entire field and was running around everywhere contributing in every possible way. He won several ground duels while he took two attempts at goal. Unfortunately, both were off target.
Lassana Coulibaly (6.7/10) : A decent performance when it came to Lassana. He did win a couple of tackles and ground duels but lost possession too many times.
Luca Ranieri (6.8/10) : Luca complimented the other midfielders quite well and he did really well with interceptions and keeping the ball moving in order to create opportunities.
Franck Ribéry (6.8/10) : Just the 45 minutes for Franck in today’s game. He did well with his passing and he also won a few ground duels but couldn’t impact the match with his experience and skills.
Cedric Gondo (6.7/10) : Cedric had just the one shot on target and he was denied by the goalkeeper. Not the ideal match for a striker but he did give his best on the field.
Milan Đurić (6.8/10) : The captain had an eventful match-up as he went for the Ariel challenges quite often. He didn’t disappoint as he won 9 out of the 12 challenges he was a part of. He also got an opportunity at goal but was off the target.
Luka Bogdan (6.8/10) : An overall decent game for Luka as he did well with defending as well as contributed well with passing.
Joel Obi (6.7/10) : Joel got one of the biggest chances he could have ever received and he failed to convert it into a goal for Salernitana.
Simy (6.2/10) : In the bare minimum time that simy had, he managed to take on Ariel challenges for four times but he lost all of them.
Federico Bonazzoli (6.9/10) : Since his arrival on the field, Federico had two attempts at goal but both were off target. He also created a huge goal scoring chance but unfortunately, it didn’t get converted.
Pawel Jaroszynski (6.5/10) : Key passes are certainly his thing. Pawel looked good with tackles as he won quite a few while looking solid at winning ground duels.
Juan Musso (GK) (7.2/10) : Juan had a pretty good game and earned himself that cleansheet with couple of good saves. A job well done with the gloves.
Rafael Tolói (7.4/10) : The captain had an all-round performance in defence as he made as many as seven clearences to guard the goal by winning interceptions and tackles while also excellently winning ariel duels.
Merih Demiral (6.7/10) : Just the 45 minutes for Merih Demiral. He made five good clearances but failed to win the Ariel challenges he took on. He got himself at a goal scoring opportunity but went off target.
José Luis Palomino (7.2/10) : Palomino did extremely well at defence. With his pace and skillwork he won several interceptions and that earned him the confidence to win Ariel and ground challenges.
Joakim Mæhle (6/10) : It just wasn’t the day for Joakim and he failed consecutively at all the ground duel challenges he went for. He failed miserably at making good passes or crosses and lost possession on 18 occasions.
Mario Pašalić (6.2/10) : Mario too played for a bare minimum of 45 minutes on field. He did seem to struggle at winning the ball so wasn’t the best game for him today.
Remo Freuler (6.7/10) : Remo was witnessed running around everywhere to win the ball. He did good with winning ground duels and interceptions which probably was the the way inside the box where he had one of his attempts blocked out.
Robin Gosens (6.9/10) : A good attacking mindset help Robin Gosens perform really well in today’s encounter. From his two attempts at goal, one was on target but denied while the other was blocked out in defence.
Ruslan Malinovskiy (7/10) : Ruslan kept making the key passes as he was extremely good at winning the ground duels he took on. A good match indeed.
Aleksei Miranchuk (6.5/10) : Aleksei did well with defending as he won a fair few tackles and interceptions. However, he got substituted in just 45 minutes of gameplay so didn’t impact the game that much.
Duván Zapata (8/10) : Zapata scored the late goal in the 75th minute of the game courtesy of a fantastic assist by Illicic. This late goal certainly assured the three points for Atalanta.
Berat Djimsiti (6.8/10) : A few good clearences and a good time passing the ball around certainly gave Berat a good 45 minutes on the field.
Davide Zappacosta (6.7/10) : Davide had a great opportunity to go for glory but he missed out on a huge opportunity which really put the morale down for Atalanta.
Josip Illicic (7/10) : Illicic comes in and provides Zapata with a magnificent assist that helps Atalanta get the lead quite late in the match. However, they end up on the winning side with 1-0.
Teun Koopmeiners (6.5/10) : Apart from winning a couple of interceptions and tackles, it was a decent game for Koopmeiners.
Giuseppe Pezzella : (N/A)
