Shahid Afridi tests positive for COVID-19

Former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi on Saturday disclosed that he has tested positive for the deadly virus, becoming the first noteworthy cricketer to be infected with the COVID-19.

“I’ve been feeling unwell since Thursday; my body had been aching badly. I’ve been tested and unfortunately, I’m covid positive. Need prayers for a speedy recovery,” wrote the former Pakistan skipper on his official Twitter handle.

Earlier, Afridi invoked the Kashmir issue again and implicated Prime Minister Modi for executing religious atrocities in India in a video on social media and while reacting to the post, India former players Yuvraj Singh and Harbhajan Singh regretted his calls for donation to former Pakistani’s captain charity.

“Really disappointed by @SAfridiOfficial’s comments on our Hon’ble PM @narendramodi Ji. As a responsible Indian who has played for the country, I will never accept such words. I made an appeal on your behest for the sake of humanity. But never again,” Yuvi wrote in his Twitter post.

Bhajji and Yuvi had posted videos on their social media in the assistance of the ‘Shahid Afridi Foundation’ which was generating funds for needy to fight with coronavirus pandemic.

Afridi is also actively engaged in his charity work as the head of a foundation named after him and following the COVID-19 outbreak, he was seen outdoors several times for charity work.

The 40-year-old played for Pakistan between 1996 to 2018, and in 27 Tests, he scored 1716 runs and took 48 wickets and in ODIs, he scored 8064 runs in 398 matches and took 395 wickets with 1416 runs and 98 wickets in 99 matches in the shortest format of cricket.
