Sharath Kamal distributes rice, vegetables to workers amid lockdown

Indian paddler Sharath Kamal distrubuted rice and vegetable to workers who are affected due to the nationwide lockdown while India is struggling due to coronavirus crises.

The Ministry of Home Affairs allocated an order to extend the lockdown by two more weeks from 4 May and also entitled the movement of migrant workers, tourists, students and other persons abandoned at different places, by special trains on Friday.

Sharath said that his father’s helping nature towards needy people encouraged him to help the people who are affected due to lockdown in the country.

“One month ago my dad had helped a few people in need with some dry ration. That encouraged me to extend some help, too. Distributed rice and vegetables today to the workers affected due to the #lockdown! #LabourDay #MayDay, ” Sharath tweeted.

Sharath last seen played during the Oman Open, where he won the coveted trophy against Portugal’s Marcos in final in March. It was the first-ever IITF title since the Egypt Open in 2010.

The ace paddler also came to be the highest-ranked Indian table tennis player in the men’s category last month and also took a jump of seven spots in the latest senior men’s ranking expelled by the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) to hold the 31st position.
