The first innings of the third ODI between India and England saw some enthralling moments as the match swung like a pendulum with both sides trading blows. Earlier, India were put in to bat for the third time in a row as skipper Virat Kohli lost the toss once again. India got off to a good start as the openers Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan laid down a great platform with some brisk batting.
However, England came roaring back to remove the openers as well as Virat Kohli and KL Rahul to leave India reeling. It was then a stupendous partnership between Rishabh Pant and Hardik Pandya that helped India past 300. Late in the innings, there were some crucial contributions from Shardul Thakur and Krunal Pandya to ensure India had a similar score to bowl at like the previous two matches.
Watch – Shardul Thakur’s six and Ben Stokes’ reaction
Shardul Thakur is known as a bowler but his batting exploits are no secret. He has come up with important contributions in the past for India and his domestic and franchise teams. He produced another one of those knocks as he took on the English bowlers from the beginning. He hit as many as three huge sixes to up the ante and keep the scoreboard ticking.
One such six he hit was off Ben Stokes‘ bowling. Coming down the track and reading a slower ball perfectly, Thakur carved a six over the long-off fence. Soon after he hit the maximum, a smiling Stokes went over to him and had a look at his bat in what was a chuckle-worthy moment.
