Indian shooter Manu Bhaker has pledged on Monday to donate ₹ 1 lakh to Haryana’s coronavirus relief fund to win the battle against this pandemic.

“This is the time when only the lives of the people of the country matter and all of us will have to do what we can to save them. I contribute 1 lakh rupees to the Haryana Corona CARES Fund by myself and hope that you all too support the country in this hour of disaster by contributing something from the other side,” she wrote on Twitter.

The 16-year-old Manu became the first shooter from India and the first female athlete from India to grab a Gold medal at the Youth Olympics Games.

She first tasted success at the international level when she won the silver medal at the 2017 Asian Junior Championships. In the 2018 International Shooting Sport Federation World Cup held at Guadalajara, Mexico. Bhaker won the gold medal in the Women’s 10-meter air pistol, defeating Mexico’s Alejandra Zavala, a two-time champion.

In the 2018 Asian Games, she scored a game’s record score of 593 in the qualification round of 25m Air pistol event. In February 2019, she won the gold medal in the 10m air pistol mixed team event at the 2019 ISSF World Cup in Delhi. In May 2019 she qualified for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in the 10m pistol event via a fourth-place finish at the Munich ISSF World Cup.

Manu Bhaker won gold medal with a junior world record in the women’s 10m air pistol event of the World Cup Finals 2019.
