Shreyas Iyer‘s shoulder surgery turned out to be a successful one and the Indian batsman stated that he would back to the cricket field in no time. The injury occurred during India’s first ODI against England in Pune which the hosts won. Iyer was fielding at cover and dived to get his hand to a fierce shot only to land on his left shoulder and dislocate it. He left the field in pain and did not return for the match or the series.
Further, Iyer’s presence in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season was ruled out due to the injury which was a huge blow to Delhi Capitals (DC) whom he leads. In his absence, Rishabh Pant is set to lead the side and he will begin his stint as captain on the 10th of April when the side takes on the Chennai Super Kings at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Shreyas Iyer says he will be back in no time
It was reported widely that Shreyas Iyer would undergo his surgery for the injury today and the same was confirmed by the cricketer post the procedure as he posted a picture of himself. He captioned it, “Surgery was a success and with lion-hearted determination, I’ll be back in no time. Thank you for your wishes.“
It is noteworthy that Iyer had signed with English county side Lancashire for the London One-Day Cup which will begin in July. His presence in the same is in doubt now as he recovers from the injury with the ICC T20 World Cup in sights as well.
