2020 has been an arduous year globally. However, for the World No. 1, Novak Djokovic it has been atrocious. From the Adria tour controversy, to the new player’ association and finally, to his appalling disqualification from the US Open 2020 for unintentionally hitting a lineswoman during the last 16 match against Busta, the Serbian is literally having quite a year. Former tennis professional Daniela Hantuchova stated her views on the fiasco, expressing her concern for her legendary friend.

It’s just with the timing he’s not getting it right, says Daniela

Daniela remarked his anger taking away the best of him.

It feels like sometimes the anger comes out of control. I care so much about him and respect everything he is doing for our game, but I just hope there is a lesson to be learned, even if this one came at the worst possible time, where pretty much the only thing standing between him and an 18th grand slam title was himself, with all my respect to the other players,” she said as quoted by Mail Online.

So many times he has the right intentions, it’s just with the timing he’s not getting it right, like the Adria Tour. There’s no problem with running an exhibition tour like that, just not when the whole world stops. Same with the ATP stuff. Sure, things need to change, but not right now,” she added.

Getting back to the tournament, the Top seed had a straightforward win to his 18th Grand Slam in the absence of his Big Three counterparts. But, in the blink of an eye, his ‘bad luck’ led him to commit the fatal (although unintentional) mistake, finally taking away the opportunity with his disqualification from the tournament.
