Sourav Ganguly to Sachin Tendulkar: We would’ve scored 4,000 more runs with cricket rules today

Former India captain and BCCI president Sourav Ganguly thinks that he could have scored 4,000 more runs along with Batting partner Sachin, if two new balls and field restrictions were attainable in the ODI format that time.

International Cricket Council’s (ICC) official Twitter handle shared the partnership book of the two legends of cricket on Tuesday.

No other duo has reached even 6,000 runs in ODI together while this legend pair has marked 8,227 runs in 176 innings in ODI format with an average of 47.55.

Reacting to ICC’s post, Master Blaster asked Ganguly that how many more runs does he guesses the duo would put together in the present scenario, “This brings back wonderful memories Dadi. How many more do you think we would’ve been able to score with the restriction of 4 fielders outside the ring and 2 new balls? @SGanguly99 @ICC.”

“Another 4000 or so ..2 new ..sounds like a cover drive flying to the boundary in the first over of the game.. for the remaining 50 overs @ICC @sachin_rt, ” Ganguly replied.

Currently, only two fielders are supposed to be outside the 30-yard circle in first 10 overs of the game while four fielders are allowed outside the circle in next 30 overs and in the last ten overs of the game, five fielders are supposed to cover the boundary line.
