On Tuesday, Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India extended the lockdown for 19 days till 3rd May as number of cases are increasing day by day. In wake of this, Sports Authority of India announced that all the training centres will remain close till 3rd May.
Earlier, SAI camps were postponed till 14th April because of complete lockdown in India. SAI told that, “We thought of taking a decision on the way forward after 14 April. But since the lockdown is extended, the camps will remained suspended till 3 May.”
Athletes who are staying in SAI hostels will continue to stay there. But these are difficult times for athletes as they have to maintain their fitness but all gym and activity centre are not accessible to them.
The World Health Organization on 11th March declared the rapidly spreading coronavirus outbreak a pandemic. All sports action is halted because of it and Olympic games are also postponed for the first time in history.
